Her fingernails, acrylic, were always painted a cherry red. Toenails, colored to match. She slept and bathed with a diamond heart necklace clasped around her neck. A tube of true red lipstick, the standard in her purse, joined by several pretty hankies and a compact.
She was classy.
I want to be classy too.
My 2015 resolution is: To wear red lipstick.
I understand this may not seem like much of a resolution. It is a small step to bringing back being a lady. Women can be strong, independent, smart and still be lovely.
Lipstick.
She kept a tube of true red on her nightstand with a little mirror. When I would greet her in the mornings, she had her lipstick on. Goodnight kisses always left a cherry red mark. No matter what, she always wore red lipstick. Her fingernails and toenails were always red. The manicurist came in once a week to fill in the acrylic and freshen up the paint. I believe feeling pretty made her feel good. I am going to be blogging my journey with weekly recaps and incorporating stories and life lessons I learned from my grandmother and her sisters.
Put on your lipstick.
i love this so much! and all lovely things. :)

We can live in the present my darling Apple Slice, while learning from the past and keeping traditions alive. There is much to learn from those that lived before us, it is a beauty to honor them.
